Helen Burrus a native Nashville photographer specializes in children’s portraiture and weddings. While her emphasis has been on black and white children’s portraits and wedding photography, she would never pass up the opportunity to shoot family gatherings, corporate and social events as well as interior/exterior architectural elements.
Her style is always to capture the spirit of the subject in a natural and uncontrived manner, whether it is a wedding pose or a relaxed outdoor shot. This is achieved not only on location, but also in her studio.
Children’s portraits and baby panels are a major part of Helen’s business and while focusing on black and white portraits, she also enjoys shooting in color, portraits, family groups and outdoor events. The baby panel (a favorite of Southerners) is a wonderful way to track the developmental stages of your baby’s first year with sittings every 3-4 months.
Weddings have also been a large part of her business for the last 20 years and while she strives to capture all of the special moments during a wedding and reception, it is imperative to Helen to keep a low profile so that the focus will be on the bride and groom.
Commercial and corporate work is typically full day, location work, but shooting individual headshots is part of her regular work week. While she welcomes the chance to work with some of Nashville’s premier business people, she loves traveling to the country to photograph horses, barns, fields and flowers.
